How you would like to treat the new visitor to your site?

The idea is - would you like to treat the first time visitor to your site differently then your old regular unique visitors? Following are the two types of visitors you would like to handle with special care;

[A] First time visitor to your site
[B] First time commentator

Let me explain how you can give them the special delight using WordPress Plugins.

[A] For The First Time Visitor

You must have heard about Seth Godin, he is a bestselling author, entrepreneur and called agent of change. Godin is author of ten books that have been bestsellers around the world. Let us see what is his take on this;

One opportunity that’s underused is the idea of using cookies to treat returning visitors differently than newbie. It’s more work at first, but it can offer two experiences to two different sorts of people.

Now, inspired by this Richard K Miller developed a Plugin and named it What Would Seth Godin Do or WWSGD

How you can use this

This can be used to remind the new visitor to sign up for e-mail subscription, or you can give some idea about your blog or write promotion lines in the message appear on the very first visit of a user. You can set this message on the top or bottom of your post. It will not appear on re-visit of that same user provided he has not refresh his cookies.

[B] For The First Time Commentator

Justin Shattuck a 23 years old guy from Oklahoma feels that “Visitors love interaction, especially a personable approach at gaining their attention and spiking their interests”. He develop a WordPress Plugin that will send an e-mail message to a user who would first time make comment on your blog or in another word who never commented on your blog before. Good Idea Indeed.

It’ss always good to see when you get appreciated for your efforts, whether it’s a small stuff or a big deal. Receiving “Thanks Very Much” in mail on commenting someone’s blog would definitely create a connection between you and that person. Also you can remind him in the message about signing up for e-mails or subscribed to your RSS feed

Download Plugin, it is called Relish
